420HC steel

This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while providing the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Add our unique heat treatment process and you have a very easy to use combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent wear resistance and durability. You also have an easy-to-sharpen blade. For best performance, we harden to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.
Release point

This blade is belly-full with a strong, thick tip for heavier tasks. It can also be used as a general work knife. The top of the blade descends towards the tip, minimizing accidental perforation during stripping. The drop point blade is strong and very versatile.
